Salve a Bahia! Salve Salvador!

Photos by Nadja P.

  7. What a beautiful city you have! Thank you for creating this post to share with me. Your city seems so large in comparison to what I've seen here. I live in a small city, surrounded by small city. There are some cities that I visit in my state that are large, but the culture still isn't as rich as international scenes.

I loved the videos at the end. They remind me so much of the drumlines that we have here in many of our black colleges and universities. Music is so universal and I love how each culture is so rich and how you can find elements that are the same often throughout. I'll have to share some of our drumline music on my blog so you can hear it.

Sorry to take so long to get here, but it's been a very hectic weekend and I'm not feeling well right now. Abrazos!

  8. Libby,

I don't live in Salvador/BA, was walking over there.
Really Salvador is a beautiful city, magic, I can tell.
The majority of the population is black, then we have the impression that are in any city in Africa, you know?
It is a tourist city where many foreigners love to visit!
I also loved visiting this city! And the music?
It's contagious, vibrant! You'd love it!
Afro hairstyles are also exotic! You'd be crazy! I knew you'd like it.
Are you sick, Libby? Take care of yourself!
Maybe get heavy on the run... I hope you get well!

    Abraços and AXé!

In the Bahia the people saying Axé!

Axé in Yoruba: "power", "energy, "strength"
